Papailoa Paint Day, August 14th, 2012

"Papailoa Memories" 12" x 16" Oil on Canvas Panel SOLD right there on the beach!
We had a great time together painting at Papailoa Beach on Oahu's North Shore yesterday. It was rainy and cloudy on the early hour long drive out there, but once we arrived and carried all our stuff to the paint spot and set up, the sun came out in full force and the colors were magnificent! I was very inspired and challenged by the 4 other great artists there. Susie Anderson, Roger Whitlock, Richard Robinson (who is here from New Zealand teaching a workshop in Sept.), and Kelly Turner where all painting with vigor. It is such a great way to learn and grow as an artist being surrounded by such talent! Even though it's a bit nerve wracking, it's the good kind of "pressure" to perhaps do one's best work! I hadn't been outside to paint for awhile, so it's always nice to get outside to paint again after so long a break. Thanks to my sidekick Susie A., she got me out there en plein air once again!
And thanks to Barbara for hosting a very relaxing and refreshing lunch after all our hard work there at the beach! What a gal, you ROCK!
